LA City Offices Remain Mostly Closed Nearly 3 Years After Pandemic Start

Chris Parker / January 5, 2023

It’s a new year but Los Angeles city offices remain closed to the public for nearly all services, including project meetings, public counter questions, and public hearings. Offices were closed in March 2020 by then-Mayor Eric Garcetti and have only partially reopened to just a few, select services. Meanwhile, offices in most other cities in and around the region have re-opened to the public.

Gov. Gavin Newsom indicated late last year that if COVID numbers remain low through the winter months, he will lift the statewide emergency order in March. That would give newly elected Mayor Karen Bass the opening to lift the citywide emergency as well.

Until then, PCC will continue to work with city staff via video conferencing, phone calls and emails (and in-person meetings, when possible) to get our clients’ projects reviewed and approved as quickly as possible. PCC obtained approvals for more projects in 2022 than any year previously, and we look forward to working with clients, architects, developers and other professionals to get even more projects approved in the new year.
