Permits Still Being Issued in Beverly Hills Despite Judge’s Ruling

Earlier this year, The city of Beverly Hills was ordered to stop issuing permits for home remodels and renovations until a plan for affordable housing is enacted.

Beverly Hills is supposed to plan for more than 3,100 new homes, most of them affordable, but because the state has denied the feasibility of the city’s plans, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Curtis A. Kin blocked the city from issuing all building permits except for new residential development.

However, the judge’s order was immediately appealed and a stay was placed on the freeze.

The City of Beverly Hills continues to issue permits – residential and commercial – while the appeal proceeds.

For example, PCC has obtained several permits from the city for Aesop’s flagship retail store under the direction of Atelier X.Design. The store is expected to open in the next few weeks.
